Who You're Actually Dealing With

Not a faceless agency. Not a sales team. Not an AI persona. I'm Dan Kerfoot, founder of Spark Automations. I build automation systems for UK small businesses that want fewer manual tasks, faster follow-up and more consistent operations. Based in Nottinghamshire. Working with businesses across the UK.

Dan Kerfoot, Spark Automations

I'm Dan. I live in Nottinghamshire and I build automation systems for UK small businesses.

Before any of this, I worked in trades. That background matters more than it sounds. I know what it's like to run a small business where every hour counts and the admin never stops growing alongside the workload.

I got into automation because I was drowning in manual tasks and needed a way out. Built systems to fix my own problems. Got good at it. Started doing it for other businesses.

I also run No Jargon AI, a content and education platform that helps UK small businesses understand AI tools without the hype. Spark Automations is where the building happens.

You deal with me directly from the first conversation to the final handover. No account managers. No hand-offs.

How I Work

Audit First

No solution before understanding the problem. The audit isn't a sales call. It's the first piece of work.

Scope in Writing

Everything agreed before work starts. No surprises on price or scope.

Honest About Limits

If something is outside my expertise, I'll say so. I'd rather lose the work than deliver something half-built.

Plain English

Documentation written for real businesses. If your team can't use it without asking me a question, it's not finished.

What Spark Automations Builds

Most businesses don't have a workload problem. They have a follow-up problem. A consistency problem. An admin problem. Spark Automations builds systems that handle repetitive tasks automatically so business owners can spend more time on work that actually moves the business forward.

Lead Follow-Up Automation

Automatically respond to enquiries and follow up until a prospect books or replies. No lead goes cold overnight.

Quote Follow-Up Automation

Every quote receives structured follow-up instead of being forgotten. More conversions without extra effort.

Client Onboarding Automation

Welcome emails, document requests and onboarding steps handled automatically from the moment a client confirms.

Appointment Reminder Systems

Reduce no-shows through automated reminders and confirmations sent at the right time.

Review Request Automation

Generate more Google reviews from completed jobs and happy customers without manually chasing every one.

Document Chasing Workflows

Collect paperwork, forms and approvals automatically without endless back-and-forth email chains.

Reporting Automation

Deliver performance updates automatically without someone spending hours pulling data together manually.

Rebooking and Retention

Stay in touch with clients after projects or appointments complete. Keep relationships warm without manual effort.

Businesses We Help

Trades

Builders, electricians, plumbers, joiners and contractors.

Property

Estate agents, letting agents and mortgage brokers.

Businesses that rely on repeat customers and consistent follow-up.

Why Businesses Need Automation

The businesses that benefit most from automation are not failing businesses. They are busy businesses where things are falling through the cracks because there is too much to track manually.

Missed Leads

A lead that arrives at 6pm and gets a reply at 9am the next morning is often already gone. Speed of response matters more than most businesses realise, and manual processes cannot keep up with the pace of incoming enquiries.

Forgotten Follow-Ups

Most businesses do not lack leads. They lack consistent follow-up. A quote goes out and then waits passively. A viewing happens and no feedback is requested. A job completes and no review is asked for. Each one is a missed opportunity that adds up over the course of a year.

Admin Overload

Admin grows alongside revenue. More clients means more emails, more documents to chase, more reminders to send and more updates to give. Without systems in place, the business owner ends up as the bottleneck. Growth becomes the problem rather than the goal.

Inconsistent Processes

When tasks depend on individuals remembering to do them, different staff members handle the same situation in different ways. One team member follows up every quote within 24 hours. Another sends one email and leaves it. Automation removes the inconsistency entirely.

Lost Time

Business owners regularly spend several hours each week on tasks that a well-built system could perform in seconds. Responding to standard enquiries. Sending reminder emails. Chasing outstanding documents. These are not high-value activities, but they consume time that could go elsewhere.

The System Pays for Itself

One extra conversion from a lead that would otherwise have gone cold. One quote that gets followed up and confirmed. One client who leaves a review because they were asked at the right moment. The return on a well-built automation system is usually visible within the first month.

Frequently Asked Questions

Business automation uses software to handle repetitive tasks that would otherwise be done manually. This includes things like replying to enquiries, chasing documents, following up quotes, sending reminders and collecting reviews. The automation runs in the background, triggered by events in your business, without anyone needing to manually start it each time.
Any business that handles a regular volume of enquiries, appointments, documents or follow-up communication. Trades businesses, estate agents, letting agents, mortgage brokers, professional service firms, health and wellness businesses and retailers all benefit. If your business involves doing the same manual tasks repeatedly, automation can help.
Usually yes. Most projects involve connecting tools you already use rather than replacing them. This includes email platforms, CRM systems, booking tools, form builders and communication apps. One of the first things covered in the Discovery Audit is which tools you currently use and where your enquiries actually arrive.
No. Many of the most effective automations have nothing to do with AI. They are straightforward rule-based systems that trigger actions based on events. AI is used where it adds genuine value, such as drafting personalised responses, but it is never forced into a build just to sound impressive.
The Discovery Audit is £250 and comes off the build price if you go ahead. Quick Win builds start from £750. Growth Pack projects start from £2,500. Business OS projects start from £5,000. The Discovery Audit produces a written recommendation with a fixed price before you commit to anything.
Quick Win builds typically take 3 to 5 days from agreement to go-live. Growth Pack projects take 2 to 4 weeks depending on complexity. Business OS projects take 4 to 8 weeks. Timelines start from the point the agreement is signed and the build fee is received.
No. While Spark Automations is based in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, all builds are delivered remotely. Clients are based across the UK. The Discovery Audit call, the build process and the handover session all happen over Zoom and do not require in-person contact.
Yes. Nothing is built without a signed agreement. You approve the scope before work starts. Every automation is documented in plain English so you understand what it does and how to manage it. You own the system completely and can stop, adjust or cancel at any time.
Before the call you complete a short questionnaire about your business, your tools and where time is being lost. The audit call is one hour. We map your actual workflow, identify the biggest time drains and discuss what could be automated. After the call you receive a written action plan with a build recommendation and a fixed price.
You review the written report and decide whether you want to go ahead. There is no pressure. If you proceed, the £250 audit fee comes off your build cost. If you decide not to go further, you still have the report and the action plan. Most clients find it useful regardless of whether they commission a build.
